Live commentary:
Man of match Thabo Matlaba.
FULL TIME: Bafana 2 CAR 0.
93min Should have been 3-0 ... again. Parker receives the ball on the wing from Tshabalala, runs through and sends in a great cross to back to the on-running Shabba, who decides to use his left foot where his right looked the better option, and he strokes it just wide.
Four minutes to be added.
90min That should have been 3-0. Parker receives the ball clumsily, but gets it through to Matlaba, who's through on goal, but shoots wide with only the keeper to beat.
36,740 attendance here in Cape Town. Capacity it 40,000.
88min Yeye sends a pass through to Parker on the edge of the area. He could take a shot, but takes a bit too long, and decides to stroke the ball across to Mahlangu, whose also under pressure. Mahlangu has a shot, but it's saved. Parker almost gets on the rebound, but it's a mite too far for him.
84min CAR sub: Fernander Kassai on for Manasse Enza-Yamissi.
80min Corner for CAR, claimed by Khune.
78min Two poor offside calls in two minutes as Bafana keep pressing.
73min Yellow card to Khune for time-wasting.
Great ball from Shabba to Parker, who beats his man in the box, keeps his cool and hits home. 2-0 to Bafana!
71min GOOOOOOOOAL! Bernard Parker!!!
66min Bafana sub: Manyisa on for Rantie.
CAR sub Momi on for Manga.
65min Manyisa is waiting to be subbed on.
63min Close there for SA! Some great work there by Mahlangu. Grasscutter from the D, keeper diving to his right parries and the ball scrapes the crossbar on it's way over ...
63min Dino Ndlovu being summoned to the sidelines. Looks like another substitution on for Bafana.
60min Shot goes over. Goal kick.
59min Free-kick to CAR in a dangerous position, inside the 18 area. Bafana have an eight man wall.
57min Bafana sub: Phala off, Tshabalala on.
54min Controversy here as CAR think they have scored, Khune objects in the strongest terms ... referee calls a handball in the box.
52min Lignanzi substituted immediately, Mabide on.
51min Free-kick struck by captain Eloge smartly parried by Khune but straight to Lignanzi who's follow up shot goes off bar and over.
47min Two corners in a row for Bafana. KG and Rantie, respectively, getting themselves to the ball, but neither making much of their chances.
HALF-TIME: Chris (@Chris_Maq) says: South Africa ahead in the possession stakes, spending most of their time in CAR's half, but weren't able to convert their chances. Apart from that one. Yeye's passing looking good, and Matlaba looking lively, although will have to watch himself getting back. The loss of Furman could affect Bafana's mobility in the second half.
45min Three minutes of stoppage time despite the fact that Furman was down for five?
43min Sub: Dikgacoi on for Furman.
42min Furman gets a standing ovation as he trudges back to the bench. Looking wobbly on his feet.
40min Signal from the medics is that Furman will be subbed. Who to replace him? KG? Bafana are going to miss him.
39min Furman finally up, with a big bandage on his head. Play continues, but he's still on the sidelines.
35min Immediately there's some panic at the back for Bafana, the danger is cleared but Furman is down.
34min Top right corner there for the Pirates man, textbook form, goalkeeper blindsided, great stuff.
33min GOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Matlaba with a long-range, dipping, beauty of a goal! 1-0!
33min With Parker looking somewhat out of sorts, Klate and a couple of teammates start warming up on the sidelines ...
31min The stadium has filled up nicely, half an hour in, in true Capetonian style. And they've started up a Mexican wave. Yeah, we need a goal.
30min Balamandji shown a yellow for some mild play-acting.
28min Balamandji receives the ball in the area, turns and digs out a shot, but it's wide of Khune's goal.
26min Still 0-0. Bafana have to start making their ascendancy count.
22min Igesund appears to be telling his players not to hop around the pitch like bunnies. At least that's what I gather from his hand movements.
21min Khune makes a somewhat extravagant save as CAR's dangerman Foxi tries a shot from range.
20min Corner for CAR, safely claimed by Khune.
17min Referee thwarts a promising attacking move for Bafana just outside the box instead of calling advantage. From the free-kick, Mahlangu sends the ball through to Matlaba who has a header on target, but again it's just wide and out for a goal-kick.
12min Another solid chance for Bafana ... great delivery there from Furman, straight at Rantie in the box, he reaches up with his boot and connects well, but it’s just over the bar. They've got to start converting these!
11min ... delivered by Eloge Enza-Yamissi ... but it's out for a goal-kick.
10min Corner for CAR ...
7min Not sure if the crowd is confused, but every time Furman gets the ball there are roars sounding like 'Boooooth' ... unless that's 'Mluuuunguuuuu'? Hehe.
6min Agonisingly close there for Bafana! Yeye sends a pass through to Rantie, who takes a couple of touches right in front of the box, and shoots across goal, but it's inches wide!
4min Mahlangu sends a cross in from the right, almost finding Parker in the middle, but the keeper makes the save.
1min Manasse Enza-Yamissi has an early attempt from outside the box on the right, no trouble at all for Khune as it's way over.
-Kick Off.
